Coltrane-Webb Update for the Week of September 28th - October 2nd

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,

I hope everyone has had a great weekend.  I am so excited to share that Mrs. Stacy Bowen has been named the 26-27 Cabarrus County Schools Exceptional Children Teacher of Excellence!  Mrs. Bowen exemplifies the dedication, compassion, and instructional excellence that define an exceptional educator. She consistently places the individual needs of our students at the center of her work and approaches each student with the belief that every child can grow, succeed, and meaningfully contribute to the school community. Mrs. Bowen builds strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues and works collaboratively to ensure that students receive the support, encouragement, and high-quality instruction they need to reach their potential.  Congratulations Mrs. Bowen on this well deserved honor!

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:

3-5th Grade Benchmark #1 Starts This Week 

Starting this week, our 3rd - 5th grade students will take their 1st Benchmark Tests.  Below you will find the benchmark schedule:

Wednesday, September 30th: 5th Grade Science
Tuesday, October 6th: 3-5th Grade Math
Wednesday, October 7th: 3-5th Grade Reading

You can help by ensuring your child is well rested, providing some words of encouragement before the tests, and making sure your child is on time getting to school on benchmark testing days.

First Quarter Parent/Teacher Conferences

First Quarter conferences are right around the corner in the next few weeks. Please be on the lookout for communication from your child's teachers to select a time to meet.

Early Release Day, Friday October 9th and No School for Students on Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th

We will have an early dismissal day on Friday, October 9th.  Our students will dismiss at 12:00pm.  If there will be changes to how your student(s) are picked up from school next Friday, please communicate those directly to their teacher ASAP.  Kids Plus will operate in the afternoon from 12:00pm until 4:30pm.  The Boys and Girls Club will still operate as normal for those students that attend their after school program.

There will be no school for students on Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th for teacher workdays.  We will be back to a regular schedule Wednesday, October 14th.

Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A Tuesday, September 29th

Please come out to the Chick-Fil-A at Concord Parkway (1475 Concord Parkway North, across from Carolina Mall) from 5:00pm - 8:00pm Tuesday, September 29th.  You can dine in, drive-thru or mobile order to participate.  If you are doing drive-thru or dining in, be sure to tell their employee that you are there to support Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School.  A portion of the night's proceeds will be donated to our PTCO. Also, orders from Uber Eats or Door Dash do NOT count for our school.  We hope to see you there!

PTCO Meeting is Next Tuesday (10/6)

The next meeting of our PTCO will take place next Tuesday, October 6th. For this meeting you have two different options to attend: 2:15 PM or 5:30 PM. If you attend the 2:15 PM meeting, you will be able to pick up your children without having to enter the car rider line! Even if you were not able to make the first meeting, we would love for you to join us! This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and staff while helping to shape exciting traditions at Coltrane-Webb.

Positivity Project (P2)

This week for P2, students will learn about the other people mindset of "Forgiveness". This means letting go of anger toward those who have done wrong and accepting that people make mistakes. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.
