Mr. Christopher Balga Principal Email Me

I am honored to be the Principal of Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School.  I look forward to building relationships with the students, staff, and community while we work together to achieve student success.  I am originally from Stratford, CT.  I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with my Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Social Economic Justice in 2005. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2007. I have taught in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools at Parkland High School as a Social Studies teacher, and in Cabarrus County Schools at Hickory Ridge High School as a Social Studies teacher and Cross Country and Track coach.

I was selected to be part of the NC Principal Fellows Program in 2013 and attended UNC-Charlotte completing my Master of School Administration in 2015 while serving as a Principal Intern at Central Cabarrus High School.  For the last 12 years I have served as an Assistant Principal at Knox Middle School, Harris Road Middle School, Hickory Ridge High School, and Wolf Meadow Elementary School.  In 2023, I was named Cabarrus County Schools Assistant Principal of the Year.

I live in Harrisburg with my wife, Erin, and our twin children, Adelyn and John, who are in 2^nd grade. In my spare time I enjoy reading graphic novels & historical non-fiction, running, going to the beach and Disney World, and spending time with my family and friends.

I am originally from Randleman, NC. I graduated from Appalachian State University for my BS in Elementary Ed in 2009. I taught for 5 years in Randolph County before moving to Cabarrus County in 2014. I completed my master’s degree through Western Governors University and my Principal Internship at Wolf Meadow Elementary. I have taught Kindergarten through 3rd grades and served as an Instructional Lead Teacher in 2nd and 3rd grades. I live in Concord with my husband, Patrick; our son, Matthew; our daughter, Emma Kate; and our German Shepherd, Sirius. I love reading, photography, and visiting the mountains as often as I can. I’m so excited to be serving the Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School community!
