Coltrane-Webb Update for the Week of August 24th - August 28th

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,

We were so excited to welcome all of our Kindergarten students this past week.  We loved seeing their smiling faces and the excitement they had coming into their classes.  

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:

Car Rider Line & Walker Procedure Reminders/Updates

We want to thank our car rider and walker families for continuing to work with us as we refine our arrival and dismissal procedures.  Here are a few updates and reminders:

Arrival

• The staff and visitor parking lot is closed from 7:45 AM - 8:15 AM.  Anyone arriving to drop off a child must join the car rider line and remain in your vehicle until you reach one of our staff members who will assist them exiting your vehicle.
• Walkers should use designated sidewalks and crosswalks in order to ensure the safety of everyone.
• Our car rider staff will make sure to help your students into and out of your vehicle.  Please remain in your vehicle to ensure the safety of everyone.
• Morning Car Rider line ends at 8:15 AM.  Anyone who arrives after the bell will be required to be checked with a parent/guardian in the front office. 
• If you are one of our walker families, please make sure you supervise your children as you drop them off and pick them up so that they are not playing outside the wall around the courtyard.

Dismissal

• Please make sure you enter the car rider line by 3:15pm.  All students should be picked up by this time.  
• If your child needs to be buckled into a car seat when they are picked up in the afternoon, we ask that you pull completely around the curve in the fire line towards the bike rack so you can safely secure them in their seat.  Our staff will not be able to assist with this moving forward.
• If your child is a walker in the afternoon, please make sure you are present at the front entrance of the school by 3:00 PM every day. At that time, our staff’s attention shifts to safely managing car rider dismissal, so we need walker families to be here by 3:00 PM. 
• Any transportation changes the day of need to be communicated to our front office by 2:30pm.  We will not rely on student's informing us of these changes.  All communication changes need to take place between the parent/guardian and the front office.

Bus Reminders

• We highly encourage parents be present at the bus stop to supervise your children in the morning and be at the bus stop to pick them up when they come home in the afternoon. 
• If your child will be riding the bus to and from school, please be at the bus stop 10 minutes before and be prepared to stay 10 minutes.

Early Check Out Reminder

If you need to check out your student early from school, that needs to happen by 2:40 PM.  After that, you will not be allowed to check them out and you will need to join the car rider line to pick them up.

Cougar Color Days

Our Kindergarten Cougars will be having "COLOR DAYS" beginning Monday, August 24th until Friday, September 4th. We would love to show our baby Cougars our support by staff and students wearing the particular color of the day! So, if you can, please wear the particular color(s) on the dates listed below. 

Monday, August 24 - Red
Tuesday, August 25 - Orange
Wednesday, August 26 - Yellow
Thursday, August 27 - Green
Friday, August 28 - Blue
Monday, August 31 - Purple
Tuesday, Sept 1 - Pink
Wednesday, Sept 2 - Black
Thursday, Sept 3 - White
Friday, Sept 4- RAINBOW

Positivity Project (P2)

This week for P2, students will learn about the character strength of "Curiosity". Curiosity means being interested in learning new things and asking questions to discover more about the world around us. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.
