Coltrane-Webb Update for the Week of August 17th - August 21st

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,
We had an outstanding first few days of the school year last week! It was wonderful to welcome our students back and see their amazed faces as they explored all the new features of our new building. I especially enjoyed visiting each classroom last week and seeing the fun, welcoming activities our teachers had planned to help students feel comfortable and excited about the new school year.
Just a reminder that we are now back at 61 Spring Street and no longer at 541 Sunnyside Drive. Please be careful putting "Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School" into any navigation application, as it has been directing families back to 541 Sunnyside Drive.

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:
Car Rider Line
We want to thank everyone for working with us as we implement our new car rider procedures. We are continuing to monitor how this is going each day and are making adjustments as needed. Here are a few reminders:
- In the afternoon, please keep your car rider tag in your window until you have your child safely in your vehicle. This helps our staff verify the correct vehicle to put you child into.
- Parents are not permitted to park in the Visitor/Staff Parking Lots and/or on the streets in order to drop off or pick up their children.
-
Our car rider staff will make sure to help your students into and out of your vehicle. Please remain in your vehicle to ensure the safety of everyone.
Walkers
If your child is a walker in the afternoon, please make sure you are present at the front entrance of the school by 3:00 PM every day. At that time, our staff’s attention shifts to safely managing car rider dismissal, so we need walker families to be here by 3:00 PM. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Join The PTCO
The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary PTCO is looking for new parents and guardians to join us for the 2026–2027 school year, and no prior experience is needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and teachers while helping to shape exciting traditions. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your ideas, voice, and support can help strengthen our classrooms, enrich student experiences, and build a connected school community. We would love for you to be part of this exciting new chapter at Coltrane-Webb! If you are interested, please email CWPTCO@gmail.com.
School Improvement Team Parent Representative
CWES’ School Improvement Team (SIT) is seeking parent representatives for the 2026–27 school year. The SIT reviews school-wide data, develops the school improvement plan, and provides a shared decision-making and communication avenue for the school community. Meetings will be held monthly on campus at 3:30 PM on the fourth Thursday of each month, beginning August 27, 2026, with November and December meetings held on the third Thursday due to holiday breaks. All meetings are open to the public. Parents interested in serving on the SIT should email Mr. Balga at christopher.balga@cabarrus.k12.nc.us.
Positivity Project (P2)
This week, we will start the Positivity Project (P2) in all grade levels during their Morning Meeting time. Our students will learn about "The Other People Mindset". This is a key concept within P2 which teaches students that positive relationships are important - and that there are actions they can take to build positive relationships. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.
I hope you have a great Sunday and we will see you tomorrow!
