Weekly Update for the Week of March 2nd - 6th

Posted Date: 03/01/26 (03:00 PM)

The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Mascots, Zougar and Zoey.
Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,

All of our students had a great time at Book-A-Palooza on Friday picking out two books of their choice that they can keep!  We want to thank the Cabarrus County Education Foundation, Lilly, and our parent/community volunteers who helped make our 2nd annual event a huge success.  This week, grade levels will be doing their own Spirit Days to celebrate Read Across America Week. Teachers will share this information through Parent Square.

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:

Spring Family Night

Mark your calendars, our Spring Family Night is coming on March 26 from 5:30-7:30! We are hosting a game night with board games that reinforce critical thinking, patience, and academic skills like math and literacy. This event will provide a fun, engaging, and screen-free environment for all ages!

No School for Students on Tuesday, March 3rd, Early Release Day, Friday March 6th, and Spring Break

There will be no school for students Tuesday, March 3rd for a capped teacher workday.  We will be back to a regular schedule Wednesday 3/4 & Thursday 3/5.

We will have an early dismissal day on Friday, March 6th.  Our students will dismiss at 12:00pm.  If there will be changes to how your student(s) are picked up from school next Friday, please communicate those directly to their teacher ASAP. Kids Plus will operate in the afternoon from 12pm until 4:30pm.  The Boys and Girls Club will still operate as normal for those students that attend their after school program.

There will be no school for students and staff from Monday, March 9th - Friday, March 13th for the Spring Break. Students will return to school on our regular schedule on Monday, March 16th, 2026.

March Madness Reading Challenge

On Monday, March 2nd our March Madness Reading Challenge will begin at CWES! Information on the challenge, reading log #1, and a bookmark will be sent home with our students on Monday, March 2nd.

Changing Student Afternoon Transportation Reminders

If you need to make transportation changes for you child for the afternoon, please send your child’s teacher a Parent Square message in the morning or call the school before 2:00pm to ensure the message is communicated. Late calls may not always be able to be communicated before dismissal.

Spring Pictures (3/16) and Group Picture Makeups (3/20)

Our Spring Pictures will take place on Monday, March 16th.  Students received order forms last week from their teachers.  If you are interested in purchasing them, please complete and return the form to your child's teacher by the day of the photos. Payment information can be found on the form.

We also want to let you know that we will be retaking our recent class pictures due to concerns about the overall photo quality. After reviewing the images, we were not satisfied with how they turned out and felt our students and families deserve better.  Class picture retakes will take place on Friday, March 20. All students will participate in the retake to ensure we have a high-quality class photo for purchase and school records.  If your child was absent on the original picture day, this will also serve as their opportunity to be included.  All previous orders will be honored.

If you have any questions about either picture day, please contact the front office.

2025-2026 PTCO Recruitment

The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary PTCO is looking for new parents and guardians to join us for the 2026–2027 school year, and no prior experience is needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and teachers while helping shape exciting traditions as we open our brand-new school building this August. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your ideas, voice, and support can help strengthen our classrooms, enrich student experiences, and build a connected school community. We would love for you to be part of this exciting new chapter at Coltrane-Webb!  If you are interested, please email CWPTCO@gmail.com

Positivity Project (P2)

Next week for P2, our students will learn about the character strength "Love of Learning".  This means enjoying the process of learning new things, whether in school or on your own.  Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.

I hope you have a great Sunday and we will see you tomorrow!
