Weekly Update for the Week of May 18th - May 20th

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,
We are so excited to celebrate each of our 5th grade students this coming week! We are so proud of everything they have accomplished during their time with us at Coltrane-Webb. Though we are sad to see them move onto Middle School, we can't wait to see how high they soar!
Follow this link to the video version of our Weekly Update.
Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:
Early Release Day Wednesday, May 20th
We will have an early release day on Wednesday, May 20th. Our students will now dismiss at 12:30pm. Please note this change in time as Cabarrus County Schools has adjusted this for all traditional calendar schools to meet the required hours of instruction. If there will be changes to how your student(s) are picked up from school on Wednesday, please communicate those directly to their teacher ASAP. Kids Plus will operate in the afternoon from 12:30pm until 4:30pm. The Boys and Girls Club will still operate as normal for those students that attend their after school program.
5th Grade Promotion Ceremony
We will celebrate our 5th graders as we promote them to being middle schoolers this Tuesday, May 19th at 9:00am. We will start welcoming our families at 8:30am. In anticipation of the big day, we wanted to give you a heads up about parking. Since R. Brown McAllister will be conducting their 5th Grade Ceremony at the same time, we will not be allowed to use their parking lot as overflow. You will be free to use any of the available parking spaces on our campus. If our parking lot is filled when you arrive, you can park on the street around CWES unless signage notes that you cannot park there. Please do not park in front of our neighbors' driveways to ensure they can enter and leave their homes. We highly recommend families carpool if you are able to as that will reduce the amount of cars needing a place to park. We are so excited to celebrate this huge milestone with everyone!
5th Grade Celebration
Due to the limited space where we are having the 5th Grade Celebration after the Promotion Ceremony, we are unable to invite all our families to attend. Only those parents/guardians who have been approved to volunteer will be permitted to attend. Thank you for your understanding.
End of the Year Library Book Return Reminders
We have a number of library books that have not yet been returned to the media center. Please take time to check common places like book bags, cars, and bedrooms, as well as those easy-to-forget spots around the house where books may be tucked away. If a book is lost or damaged, payment can be made by cash, check, or through K12Payment Center. Thank you so much for helping us to ensure all library books are returned back to the our media center.
2025-2026 PTCO Recruitment
The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary PTCO is looking for new parents and guardians to join us for the 2026–2027 school year, and no prior experience is needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and teachers while helping shape exciting traditions as we open our brand-new school building this August. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your ideas, voice, and support can help strengthen our classrooms, enrich student experiences, and build a connected school community. We would love for you to be part of this exciting new chapter at Coltrane-Webb! If you are interested, please email CWPTCO@gmail.com.
This will be the final Weekly Update for this school year. I will be sending a Summer Update around mid-July. It has been an amazing year with so many great memories. We hope everyone has an outstanding summer filled with fun, family and relaxation. As we begin our return to Spring Street this summer, we can't wait to welcome everyone into our new building as we begin a new chapter in Coltrane-Webb's storied history!
I hope you have a great Sunday and we will see you tomorrow!
