Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,

As we head into this coming week, we are celebrating and recognizing the entire staff at Coltrane-Webb for Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week!  They show up each day with dedication, heart, and purpose. Their hard work creates meaningful learning experiences that help our students grow and succeed. Beyond academics, our entire staff builds a positive, supportive culture where our students feel valued, challenged, and inspired. This week, we celebrate the lasting impact they have on our community every single day!

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:

Helping with Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4th - May 8th)

Our PTCO is excited to plan a week of appreciation to celebrate everything our CWES staff does for our students each day this week. They will be providing duty-free lunches for teachers on Tuesday, May 5th along with a taco/nacho bar for all staff on Friday. Families are invited to support by signing up to donate items or time by following this link, any contribution is truly appreciated (the sign up for volunteering for covering lunch on Tuesday is located at the bottom of the linked page).  If you are making a monetary donation, please turn this in by Thursday, May 7th so that the PTCO can purchase items still needed on Thursday evening. All items will need to be turned in by Friday, May 8th at 10:00AM. Please LABEL all items with “Staff Lunch.”

We wanted to let you know the End of Grade testing schedule that will start this Thursday (May 7th) at Coltrane-Webb.  Our students have been learning and demonstrating growth all year long. These assessments are simply an opportunity for them to show what they know and highlight their progress.

Mrs. White sent a Parent Square message that you can find following this link which breaks down about the full testing schedule, affects on lunches and Encore, as well as how you can support your student at home prepare for the EOG.  We are so proud of all of our students and know they will do their best! Help set them up for success by ensuring they get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast, either at home or at school. It is also important that your child arrives on time each testing day, avoids early checkouts when possible, and understands that any missed tests will be made up on the next school day they are present.  If you have any questions about upcoming assessments, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Field Day

Field Day has been rescheduled to this Friday, May 8th.  Due to the change in date, if you can no longer serve as a volunteer or you can now volunteer to help out, please reach out to Mrs. Rinker (Jennifer.Rinker@cabarrus.k12.nc.us).  Due to the limited space where we are having the activities, we are unable to invite all our families to attend the event. Thank you for your understanding.

5th Grade Promotion Ceremony

We can’t believe we are 2 ½ weeks away from when we will celebrate our 5th graders as we promote them to being middle schoolers on May 19th at 9:00am.  We will start welcoming our families at 8:30am.  In anticipation of the big day, we wanted to give you a heads up about parking.  Since R. Brown McAllister will be conducting their 5th Grade Ceremony at the same time, we will not be allowed to use their parking lot as overflow.  You will be free to use any of the available parking spaces on our campus.  If our parking lot is filled when you arrive, you can park on the street around CWES unless signage notes that you cannot park there.  Please do not park in front of our neighbors' driveways to ensure they can enter and leave their homes.  We highly recommend families carpool if you are able to as that will reduce the amount of cars needing a place to park.  We are so excited to celebrate this huge milestone with everyone!

May Spirit Night

Our first Spirit Night of May will take place on Friday, May 8th at Two Scoops Ice Cream in Downtown Concord from 3:30pm to 10:00pmPlease be sure to tell the employee you are there to support Coltrane-Webb so that our school gets credit for your purchase!  We hope to see you there getting a nice sweet treat!

2025-2026 PTCO Recruitment

The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary PTCO is looking for new parents and guardians to join us for the 2026–2027 school year, and no prior experience is needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and teachers while helping shape exciting traditions as we open our brand-new school building this August. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your ideas, voice, and support can help strengthen our classrooms, enrich student experiences, and build a connected school community. We would love for you to be part of this exciting new chapter at Coltrane-Webb!  If you are interested, please email CWPTCO@gmail.com

Positivity Project (P2)

This week for P2, our students will learn about the character strength "Enthusiasm".  This means approaching life with energy and excitement, and it helps bring joy to those around us.  Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.

I hope you have a great Sunday and we will see you tomorrow!
