Weekly Update for the Week of February 23rd - 27th

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,
We have had a great week at Coltrane-Webb where our halls were buzzing with learning, teamwork, and the kind of spirit that makes our school so special!
Starting this week, I will be including a video version of our Weekly Update here. You can view it by following this link. I hope you enjoy it!
Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:
Book-A-Palooza Returns to Coltrane-Webb
The Cabarrus County Education Foundation and Lilly are excited to bring Book-a-Palooza back to Coltrane-Webb for the rescheduled date of Friday, February 27th! Every student will get to choose and take home two brand new books—we can't wait to add to your student's home library! Please see the flyer attached for more information about the event.
You can be part of the fun by volunteering to help set up the afternoon before (2/26) or help during the event (2/27). Sign up to volunteer please click on this link. Let's make this day unforgettable for our students!
Cougar Care Closet
Our Cougar Care Closet is a warm, welcoming space where students can grab the essentials they need to feel confident, comfortable, and ready to shine at school. We’re thrilled that this year’s launch has been such a success! If you’d like to help us keep the shelves stocked, please check out our Amazon Wishlist that is updated throughout the year so you can see exactly what students need most.
To show our appreciation, we would love to feature your family, organization, or business name on our sponsors’ banner prominently displayed at the school. Please be sure to leave this information in the notes section during Amazon check out!
No School for Students on Tuesday, March 3rd, Early Release Day, Friday March 6th, and Spring Break
There will be no school for students Tuesday, March 3rd for a capped teacher workday. We will be back to a regular schedule Wednesday 3/4 - Thursday 3/5.
We will have an early dismissal day on Friday, March 6th. Our students will dismiss at 12:00pm. If there will be changes to how your student(s) are picked up from school next Friday, please communicate those directly to their teacher ASAP. Kids Plus will operate in the afternoon from 12pm until 4:30pm. The Boys and Girls Club will still operate as normal for those students that attend their after school program.
There will be no school for students and staff from Monday, March 9th - Friday, March 13th for the Spring Break. Students will return to school on our regular schedule on Monday, March 16th, 2026.
Group Picture Makeups
We want to let you know that we will be retaking our recent class pictures due to concerns about the overall photo quality. After reviewing the images, we were not satisfied with how they turned out and felt our students and families deserve better. Class picture retakes will take place on Friday, March 20. All students will participate in the retake to ensure we have a high-quality class photo for purchase and school records.
If your child was absent on the original picture day, this will also serve as their opportunity to be included. All previous orders will be honored.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to ensure our families receive photos that reflect the pride we have in our students and school community. If you have any questions, please contact the front office.
2025-2026 PTCO Recruitment
The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary PTCO is looking for new parents and guardians to join us for the 2026–2027 school year, and no prior experience is needed. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference for both our students and teachers while helping shape exciting traditions as we open our brand-new school building this August. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your ideas, voice, and support can help strengthen our classrooms, enrich student experiences, and build a connected school community. We would love for you to be part of this exciting new chapter at Coltrane-Webb! If you are interested, please email CWPTCO@gmail.com.
Positivity Project (P2)
Next week for P2, our students will learn about the character strength of "Humility". Humility means not seeking attention and letting your actions speak for themselves. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.
I hope you have a great Sunday and we will see you tomorrow!
