CWES Weekly Update for the Week of January 12th -16th

Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,
It has been great to see everyone back this week! It made me smile every day hearing about the fun times that were had during Winter Break and seeing how much great work is happening in all of our classrooms. We want to congratulate Mrs. Lindsey Plunkett who has been selected as our Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Plunkett exemplifies excellence in education through her innovative instruction, unwavering dedication to her students, and passion for fostering curiosity and confidence in our young learners. She consistently creates an inclusive, engaging classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate, and problem-solve. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment to academic growth are some of the many reasons that she is our Teacher of the Year!
Please take a few moments to review to review the important updates below:
Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday, January 13th. Please take time to review them with your child, celebrate their accomplishments, and discuss areas for growth. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher. Open communication is key to support student progress, and we value partnering with you to ensure your child's success
Bags to Benches Recycling Project
The Coltrane-Webb community is embarking on a new recycling program to earn a bench for our new school building. Please look at the attached flyers below and begin collecting the appropriate recycling items for our school. Collect at home and then bring them to the front office, STEM Lab, or MakerSpace at school. Our goal is to collect 1,000 points in a year. Your family can help prolong the life of our county's landfill and help our school reach our goal.
Monday, January 19th: No School For Students and Staff
There will be no school for students and staff on Monday, January 19th for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Students will return to school on our regular schedule on Tuesday, January 20th.
Book-A-Palooza
The Cabarrus County Education Foundation (CCEF) and Lilly are excited to bring Book-A-Palooza back to our school on Wednesday, February 4th! Every student will get to choose and take home two brand new books completely free. You can be a part of the fun by volunteering to help prepare books (during January), set up the afternoon before at CWES (2/3), or help during the event (2/4). To sign up to volunteer, please follow this link.
Let's make this day unforgettable for our students!
Positivity Project (P2)
Next week for P2, our students will focus on "Prudence". This means you plan for the future and achieve your goals by making careful everyday choices. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.
I hope you have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!
